Must Read Books for Summer 2011
Subject to change at a moment’s notice, and certainly not all-inclusive, here is my list of Must Read Books for Summer 2011.  Some of these are books I have just finished, and others are on my “up next” list.  As it is only May 31, I’ll be updating this all summer long. One Day, David Nicholls “K., you’ve got to read One Day.” “Okay, give me the title of the book.” “No, the title of the book IS One Day.” Haha.  Seriously, though, other than some sort of Abbott & Costello schtick, this was a wonderful story.  Character development, wonderful descriptions, and a premise I fell in love with.  It’s also going to be a movie soon, starring none other than Anne Hathaway. A Game of Thrones, George R.R. Martin The first book in George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire trilogy, and a must read even if you aren’t following the new series on HBO.  There are a ridiculously large amount of characters and families, so don’t be afraid to Wikipedia if you get confused. The Help, Kathryn Stockett This was recommended to me by so many people that I almost felt guilty about not reading it.  And yet, in the same way that I thumbed my nose at an iPod for so long (which I now couldn’t live without), I felt sure that if so many people were recommending it I was sure to be disappointed.  Fear not!  Darkly comedic, dramatic, and at times stomach wrenching, The Help is a book everyone should pick up before the movie comes out on August 12.
